Local man rescued from cliff fall......
Only days after carry out the exact same training exercise with the local Coastguard team from Clevedon, the crew of the lifeboat were called into action to search for a local man who had fallen from the coastal path between Portishead and Clevedon. The man from Portishead, had been walking along the coast path from Portishead to Clevedon when he slipped and fell. He had edged towards the right-hand side of the path at Ladye Bay to avoid an area of mud and lost his footing. He plunged 10ft down the cliff, managing to break his fall by clinging onto dense undergrowth. While holding on to a branch lying in the brambles, he used his mobile phone to call his wife who was waiting for him in Clevedon, who alerted the emergency services. The lifeboat crew were first on scene and along with the Coastguard Rescue helicopter were quickly able to direct the Clevedon Coastguard cliff rescue team to the correct location who were able to recover the man and reunite him with his wife.
