......STOP PRESS.....28/08/08, 2100BST During a regular training session in heavy seas, the lifeboat sustained structural damage causing the crew to issue a MAYDAY. Two RNLI lifeboats from Weston-super-mare, and the Independent Lifeboat from SARA, along with the SAR Helicopter from RAF Chivernor were despatched by Swansea Coastguard to assist. The Portishead Lifeboat was taken under tow and returned to our base. All crew are safe and well. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the crews of Weston-super-mare and SARA lifeboats for their efforts. Please watch this space for further news.
